I Don’t Get Bored

March 25, 2020 by Slick 4 Comments

One of the only times I ever remember being bored is when I was in jail. Even in jail I was only bored when I was placed in solitary confinement for a week.

I was literally looking forward to this lockdown (#covid-19). When other people were buying all the toilet paper I was stocking up on baking supplies. I got some cocoa, baking powder, flour, chocolate chips…

I’ve made the kids cookies, brownies, pizza, homemade ice cream, and some sugar free goodies for my fat ass.

Mornings I’ve been making custom omelettes for everyone except my son, who’s a picky little shit and won’t eat them. Afternoon and evenings we’ve been eating like kings as well.

Normally my schedule doesn’t afford me the time to do all of that. The Ol’ Lady is a pretty good cook also ( I’m better, but don’t tell her I said that) but she’s definitely been enjoying being served for the last couple weeks.

Fortunately I have plenty of food to last for a bit and a little money (not much) until I go back to work.

If I had the financial independence not to go back to work I could do this forever.

I often get overwhelmed when I think of all the things I want to do in life in comparison to how short life is and how much time is spent doing the 9 to 5 jive, or as I like to call it, doing odd jobs.

In my old house I had a room I used to chill in. I had my stereo, guitars, books, my desk, a comfy chair, and a couch.

A friend of mine stopped over one day. As he sat back in my comfy chair he said, “this is almost the perfect man cave. There’s just one thing missing-“

I cut him off mid sentence. Don’t say it! This is my sanctuary. I don’t need a TV. It was the one place in the house I could escape the television and be alone with my thoughts and activities.

I’m not against TV but I don’t need a TV to be occupied. Matter of fact I don’t want to be occupied. I don’t like the sound of that. My mind is not a colony. I don’t want an occupation either. I can keep myself occupied. I don’t get bored.
